(Written April 2007) Well, USCB's alumni weekend is this weekend (April 28/29) with a lot of events happening on campus. Phi Sigma Kappa house will be hosting all Kappa Pentaton alumni with BBQ, beer, and volleyball on Saturday. Stop by and say "hi" to the actives and some new/old grads. Take some pictures and send them to me. This is our archive! In other news, fellow UCSB PSK grad Phil Rosenzweig has written a popular business book. Yeah, he's pretty smart (just Google his bio!) For more info on the book, check out the USA Today link:

Keep reading for a note from the actives:
Greetings from the Kappa Pentaton Chapter! In the past year Kappa Pentaton has continued growing towards becoming one of the largest and most prestigious chapters within the Greek system here at UCSB. Led by chapter President Hai Dao and Vice President Eric Stahl, along with Rush Chairman Elliot Edgemon and Pledge Educator Mike Swisher, we have initiated 35 new brothers this year, bringing Kappa Pentaton's ranks to 88 active brothers. Our newest brothers include four international students, John Conner and Richard Reid of England along with Tim Macpherson and Adam Van Lohuizen of Australia, bringing much needed comical relief (via their accents) and odd British and Aussie witticisms. Kappa Pentaton's backyard has received an upgrade with the replacement of both the concrete patio and the fence. The house is also looking towards expanding the chapter room (it's getting a little small for more than 90 guys!) and adding letters to the chimney to extend Phi Sig's visibility to Pardall Tunnel and the ever-packed Freebirds line. Taking advantage of those long weekends and beautiful Santa Barbara nights is a demanding and increasingly important topic here at Kappa Pentaton. In response, two wildly successful events, the annual date trip to Rosarito, Mexico and the Santa Barbara Booze Cruise, were held in Fall and Winter quarter, respectively. The annual trip to Lake Mead, Nevada, is planned for Memorial Day weekend. In sports, Kappa Pentaton made 3rd place in the fall intramural football league, greatly improving upon last year's performance according to team captain/coach/doctor Brett Channing, while the basketball team captured 4th place after a very close loss in the semifinals. Brothers Trevor Morgan and Riley Graetz have recently co-founded the UCSB Club Water Polo team, a team that has already racked up impressive wins against both UCLA and USC. The chapter has continued to field strong, albeit wobbly, teams to the Greek philanthropic events, including making it to the finals at Alpha Phi's Phi Ball volley ball tournament. On the philanthropic side of things, our 5th annual poker tournament was a great success, with approximately 185 players attending, including Kappa Pentaton alums and other members of the UCSB Greek system. The tournament raised over $4,500 for the Special Olympics, Phi Sig's national charity. Brothers Andrew Menotti and Jeff Burrell did a great job organizing the event and ensuring that it went smoothly. Thanks also go to Brother Mark "Nomo" Nagaoka for his donation of prizes and "mad poker tournament skills". We look forward to hosting more poker tournaments and would love to have any alumni come play or donate in any way possible. May 1st will mark the 2nd anniversary of Kappa Pentaton's re-chartering, and we ask that every brother alumnus come to celebrate it with us early on the weekend of April 27th-29th, also known as All Gaucho Reunion Weekend! This event, put on by the UCSB Alumni Association, seeks to bring all UCSB Alums back to Isla Vista to relive the glory days of their college careers. More information can be found at http://www.ucsbalum.com/All_Gaucho_Reunion/index.htm <http://www.ucsbalum.com/All_Gaucho_Reunion/index.htm> . We all look forward to helping the brothers from years past party like Phi Sigs again. Speaking of alumni, Kappa Pentaton will soon be adding several more to its ranks, including many of the Founding Fathers that started at UCSB just four short years ago (and some five…Ralph!). We are going to be sad to see these brothers leave, and wish them the very best in their future endeavors. -Brett Channing, Political Science.
